I came up with this little idea last year and I wanted to pass it along! When my little one started Kindergarten last year, we had to start wearing a uniform. I wanted him to be able to get dressed on his own, but I wanted to create a way to differentiate between the hang around clothes and the school uniform.

To start, I cut one side off of a diaper box and taped it into the drawer to make separate areas.

Next, I made labels that said “school” and attached them to the edge of the drawer, I didn’t want to get my little guy too overloaded so I didn’t label the other side. (By the way, he learned how to spell  and read the word school quickly, I think because he sees it EVERYDAY.)

Lastly, I put the clothes in the correct spots and showed it to my boy. (Please excuse the unfolded shorts!!)

He now can get himself ready and in the correct clothes without a struggle in the morning!

Moms on the Side: Jeannie Taylor & daughters ~ Paparazzi Accessories

Jeannie Taylor and her daughters have recently started this little jewelry business. By “little”, I mean the PRICES! NOTHING is over $5! Say what?!?!

I stopped by Jeannie’s house to pick something up last week and got to see her inventory. I was amazed at the variety of items that they have and how cute everything was for just $5! They have rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, hair clips, and headbands, all for $5!

Did I mention that everything is just $5! Some of the little girls’ pieces are TWO dollars! It’s amazing and PERFECT for Easter baskets!

Here is what Jeannie wants you to know about Paparazzi:

My name is Jeannie Taylor and I am the mother of 2 teenage girls. Of course, girls like accessories. But, we have always been lucky because we can share, so it is like having 3 times as much.

One day, I came across a company that is a “home/party” type of company. (I have signed up in many of these companies, just ask my husband!) But, this one was different. First, my girls are teens and there are dances and activities that you always need matching accessories for. The second difference was the cost! It was extremely affordable to sign up, but it is also affordable to buy! You see EVERYTHING is $5 (plus tax). That $5 price tag caught my attention because EVERY woman deserves to feel beautiful.

It has been proven that a new shirt or outfit can make a woman feel like a million bucks. However, if you add an accessory to that it builds her confidence. As a mother of 3, I strive to make my children understand they each have a purpose in life, and that they can do anything they want. When I read about the company and thought about it I knew we could offer affordable accessories to everyone and they could feel confident and beautiful too. I also knew this would be a great opportunity for my girls to learn some business skills, and earn their own money.  So my girls, Scarlett and Savannah, and I have started out on a new adventure. We are Paparazzi Consultants! We sell affordable accessories for every little princess. My girls are enjoying having their “own business” and helping people feel good about themselves. They now have the confidence to take on anything. The extra money is a definite plus, but the feeling you get when someone finds that right accessory that makes them feel good about themselves is priceless. We hope to have many of those moments!  Here is a little bit about the company:

You might think we’re all about accessories, but Paparazzi is really about change! Changing the way people look. Changing the way people feel. Changing people’s futures and their lives.
Though our fashion-forward jewelry and product parties are centered on fun, Paparazzi fulfills a serious mission. We believe that trendy accessories can be available, and affordable, to women everywhere. We know that wearing a new look, and feeling confident in your appearance, builds amazing self-esteem. Our passion is inspiring dreams, empowering talents, and reaching goals by sharing our products and the excitement of Paparazzi. We see it happen every day.
This vision is made possible through the reach of Paparazzi Consultants. They’re the ones who bring our original designs to kitchen countertops and boutique shops. Our Consultants bring fun and fashion to everyday life, along with the chance to explore the Paparazzi opportunity.

I have been embroidering monogrammed personalized items since 2007. I started after the birth of my third child, my little girl. I have two boys and a girl. I have always been a creative ~ artsy person so creating hair bows and putting a monogram on everything for her lead to me sharing my talent with others. Through my site, I am very excited to be able to offer my most popular embroidered items as well as personalized items beyond my embroidery machine…….my personalized designs on the melamine products.
I have found that everyone of all ages has an appreciation for the unique quality that only a personalized item can give, and what is more personal than an item adorned with a set of initials or a name? From little girls’ hair bows and headbands to a festive personalized platter used on your table at your next family/friends gathering, I have something personal for all ages.
I love the challenge of creating something to fit the personality of the person you’re shopping for so if you’d like a different design of something that is on my site, I will gladly work with you to create that “one of kind” personalized item.
I think a lot of folks wonder “why the name, Miss Nola’s?” The name represents my two favorite places..the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and New Orleans, LA. You can find me creating right in the middle of both of them in Slidell.
Laissez le bon temps roule….

Moms on the Side: Lindsey Lowery~ The Wreath Boutique

I love it when I stumble upon a new Mom who creates things from home. I found Lindsey’s page yesterday and thought that she would make a great feature for this week!  Here is what Lindsey has to say:

I started making wreaths because I couldn’t find anywhere around Slidell that offered them. I am originally from North Louisiana and they are easy to find up there. It started out as making them for myself, but then grew into making them for friends and family members. At one point my husband told me to stop making them because we have one for every holiday or occasion!

Then, a friend of mine who owns a boutique, encouraged me to start selling them because she had never seen any like mine before. She said she would help me get started. I love making them! Each one is new and they are all different. Seeing the persons reaction to it is the best part! :) My husband works offshore and I’ve stayed at home with our daughter for the last 4 years. I had been wanting to get a job, but with a child who is involved in so many activities, I needed something to work around my schedule and this fit perfectly!

Below are some examples of the wreaths that Lindsey makes.  You can see more on her Facebook Page HERE.  **She is offering new customers either 10% off or FREE SHIPPING if you tell her that you saw this on NSM!  She will deliver within the Slidell/Covington/Mandeville area.  Go check out her page and be sure to tell her you saw it on Northshore Mama!
