Last weekend, my two lifelong friends and I fulfilled a 5 year dream of a girls’ trip to New York. No kids, no husbands, just us.
So, I started looking for things for us to do and stumbled upon the On Location Tours offers on USFamilyGuide.com. They were offering free tours for bloggers and so we booked the Sex and the City Hot Spots tour.
We met the bus at the designated location which was very close to Central Park and was also the set of several scenes of the show. We learned that in New York, you can’t shut down the streets for filming like they do in NOLA, so the city and its people became the backdrop for the whole series.
This 3.5 hour tour took us into areas of the city that I had never seen on my previous 5 visits. We ventured into the Flatiron District and saw the park where Elizabeth Taylor was violated by a pack of dogs, we saw the Pleasure Chest, home of “the rabbit”…..we saw many shops and restaurants that have been featured in iconic episodes and it was so much fun to see them in person!
We visited Buddakan, which from the outside looked like a plain black building. That is all.
But from the inside, it was a stunning Chinese restaurant! Look at this place!
How does it relate to the show? Recognize this view?? It’s from Carrie and Big’s Rehearsal Dinner! CLICK HERE to see a clip of this GORGEOUS dining room.
We were able to leave the bus and wander around several places that we had scheduled visits that were included in the tour. I won’t give them all away, because I think they may vary from tour to tour, but I will tell you that we were able to visit………wait for it……….
Oh. Em. GEE…….so freaking cool!
Look how ADORABLE this street is? Can’t you just imagine running down those stairs and walking through this street in your Manolos? ***sigh****
As if this weren’t perfect enough, it is just around the corner from the Magnlia Bakery where Carrie and Miranda sat and enjoyed a cupcake.
There was so much fun, trivia, and adventure packed into this 3 hours. We had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed pretending to be the SATC girls.
If you find yourself in New York, you should really check out onlocationtours. They have lots of tours to offer. Just pick your favorite and book it! See the sights with an awesome tour guide narrating the day!
We loved our guide, Elise. She was awesome and full of knowledge and humor.
