For several years now, I have sung the praises of this amazing company. In 7 years of blogging, it is probably my favorite and most valuable discovery. Not because I make a little money from them, but because of the quality and price of their product. This is something that I have recommended both personally and as a blogger to friends and family as well as my blog readers. I have not had one person that did not love it!
I have referred over 1000 people and while not all of them actively purchase, there are many who do so faithfully and love them as much as I do. This is not a fly by night thing, but it is a unique company with a strange business model.
Recently, there have been several changes to the program. They offered inactive, never purchased accounts an unprecedented 99 cent/lb deal to try their signature chicken breasts. The coupon code leaked, as they always do, so they extended the offer to new customers as well as those existing, yet inactive ones. They had an amazing response, so they did it again….and again.
Some veteran customers felt this was unfair, and some others found a way around it. Their work around created a ripple effect of problems for the company. The 99 deals WAY oversold when existing customers opened MANY dummy accounts to get the deal and therefore did not create a “new customer”, but otherwise greatly inflated the drastically reduced sale.
To try to make orders, Zaycon contracted a 2nd company to fill them, but found that the chicken was not up to the quality that they expected and are known for. Many orders were refunded, the conversion of those orders did not create new orders on other products as many were duplicate customer accounts, and things just snowballed.
Last week, Zaycon announced to us (bloggers who are in their Influencer Program), that they were shutting down our program effective immediately. They also ended up pushing the fall chicken delivery back a couple of months. I was getting quite concerned that I was about to lose my Zaycon altogether! But, they finally explained the above to us and promised to re-visit an influencer program as soon as things calm down.
It boils down to a series of unfortunate events that all happened at the same time, along with some business growing pains. But, they are trying to right the ship and keep going.
So…..I felt like I should share what was going on for those of you who keep getting orders pushed back. The good news is, if you ordered for September chicken that got pushed back to October, you should have now received a credit making YOUR chicken just $.99 per pound, too!
